August 3rd, '07:  Many New things!  

1. Boards:  Spleene 154 door. The best light-wind, Up-wind, Chop-handling, massive windrange,
beginner loving, board we've seen.
2. Kitemare Celebrates its lucky 7 year Anniversary by with the creation of Kitemare Brasil !!! 
July thru January in Brazil = 7 full months of Pure Bliss!  The majority of days you'll only use a 9m kite!
3. 8 months ago kites with bridals (bow, flat kites ) were gaining popularity. Today, Kites like the
Best Waroo, account for almost all new kite sales because they work!
4. Kite-Landboarding is growing fast.  People are finally getting exciting about inland kiting.  A 3.6m
Traction -Trainer kite, and an all-terrain skateboard is all you need.  Nicely rigged Kite and Board for
under $700.  (less than 1/2 the cost of kiteboarding gear for the water)
5. An Apology! Please excuse our temporary mess. Missing photos, missing video, and broken links. 
We has a computer crash (without proper back-up) and are working to restore the site. The crazy thing
is that even with the errors, visitors tell us Kitemare is STILL the most informative Kiteboarding site

Oct 30, '06  Kite Instructor Needed to work this winter in Central FL.

Oct 2, '06:  Flat and Bow style kites have continued to dominate all new kite sales. No one seems to have
any interest in standard "C" kites, except on the used market.  After riding with a Flat kite for the last
4 months, I'm hooked as well. Best just released the new Waroo-Pro, and with the Std Waroo '07 due to arrive
by mid Oct.The only downside we're seeing with flat kites is that the extended wind range has some riders
(idiots) "thinking" its now safe to kite in front of an approaching squall line.  Kite-Landboarding aka KGB
and snow-kiting is growing as fast as predicted.  Sheetable foil kites continue to progress in both performance
with new designs offering more stability and de-power-ability. Over-all Kiteboarding is growing so fast, that many
riding locations are now dominated by beginner flyers, resulting in a shortage of certified kite-instructors.
If you love the sport, and would like to make a profession out of it, contact IKO (largest international certifying
organization), or PASA ( currently more know in the US).
If you are already a top-notch instructor and need some help getting the word out, contact us, we may be
able to help.  New info, on Boards, kites, and general kiteboarding info is now being updated here at Kitemare.
We experience a computer crash that set us back over 4 weeks, but now back 100%.

March 4th '06:  We knew flat kites would gain popularity but we never expected this level of excitement!
Beginner, Intermediates, Pro-level riders, and Kite instructors are loving the new designs.  All of them work
pretty well, but the Waroo by Best is now leading the pack.  Trainer kite sales and lesson demand is growing
steadily meaning the sport as a whole is growing fast.  Last season we saw more demand for "price-point"
trainers, and this year people are demanding more durability and versatility of 4-line moderate priced
"Traction-Trainer" kites like the HQ Beemer TSR series.  Tell your friends...  Kitemare.com is now including
Free Shipping and a Free DVD with ALL trainer kites!   Kite Vacations are growing as well as more people

November 28th.  The New "Flat Kites" are getting lots of publicity.  Reviews are varied
on the  new models : Cabrinha Crossbow & Switchblade, GK Sonic, and Takoon Nova.
Best Kites is close to releasing the Waroo.  For the Moment, no comment from Kitemare 
until we get to test them.  Christmas is approaching fast! And we've put together a few 
holiday gift ideas to make shopping a bit easier.

September 1st.  Still blowing 20+ knots in Brazil every day, repeating: "everyday!"

Best Kite 3m Trainer is back in Stock.  Best Hellfish Recalled  for needed fixes on seams along with design modifications. 
Current Brands: North, Naish, Wipika, Cabrinha, RRD, and the rest have proven to make excellent gear.  Any gaps between
companies on quality and design are pretty small.  Color combos and price are the current brand distinguishers.  Huge Kiteboarding
innovations coming in '06. Kitemare knows because we've be lucky enough to see and test these new "developments" 1st hand.

August 18th:  Cumbuco, Brazil is really windy. Blow 20+  all day long.
The Hellfish initial release brought polarized reviews ranging from Amazing to no-thanks.
Flat kites are a hot topic.  Cabrinha just released the crossbow, and others companies
and expected to release kites of a similar design before the end of the year.
Based on the number of emails and trainer kite sales, Kiteboarding is growing faster
than anyone expected.

April 19th '05 
Kitemare has it new boat.
No more wasted windless days.
The No wind days that are bad for kiting, are Perfect for working on your Board-skills using a Kiteboard, wakeboard,

Adjusting to a 5-line set-up takes a bit of time, but once you get it dialed the pretty great!

March 30th '05  Best Kites just cut their already low prices on kites. This is beyond news, its more like a revolution. You'll see : )

in this windy wonderland.
After more testing with a 5th line and some tips from Litewave board designer "Litewave Dave" we've found another huge
advantage to using a 5th line set-up. The lines can be set to cause your kite to hover above the water after a wipeout,  keep the
kite floating safely above the breaking waves!

March 14th '05  Wow! Just now getting a tiny break after a record holiday season.
The grow of the sport is exceeding what any of us expected.  Snow Kiting may soon
take over as the largest facet of our sport. 
Last fall in South Padre Texas was s amazing we're doing it again.  
April, May, June, and July.  Hop a cheap flight on South West air and experience a place with the most consistant wind in the USA. 
For beginners there's no place better.  Miles and miles of wide open waist deep water and a kitemare instructor "right with you providing "

The new materials and panel layout make the new kites more responsive
more stable, and easier to relaunch.   The new "5th" line systems beautiful. 
Using a 5th line, you can let go of the control again and again without the typical line tangles.
A 5th line even makes relaunching a high aspect kite easy!  Some kites, like the BFK
integrate the 5th line to completely reshape the canopy to make the kite much more
powerful, making it fly an pull like a kite 2-3 meters larger.  New back-flow valve designs
work 1000% better than last years.  Just pump and pluck. No more squeezing valves
and fumbling to get the plug before the air leaks out.Spring in Florida has the phone ringing non-stop for lesson requests.

Nov 20th, '04   South Padre Island, TX.  After 3 and 1/2 months on the island I can safely say it a kiteboarder's
dream come true.  Today we had 85 degree air temp, 15 knots, and only wearing board shorts and a rash guard.
Trainer Kite sales have reached a record high meaning a rapid growth of the sport.  We've have a new 2.8m trainer
now available for $139. including shipping,   A Christmas Gift page is now being assembled to be ready for the biggest 
shopping day of the year.  Been testing the Squall 120cm "light wind" Kiteboard... Impressive!
Best is getting ready to release 2 new Board models: The "Drive" and the "Float" series.  Its amazing how many
truly excellent boards are now available. Squall, Best, Litewave, HanaCrew! I love them all! 
The Florida Windy season has arrived, now we just need the wind.  If you will be in the central Florida area and

I'm not sure its reason enough to vote for him, but I'm thinking the president might be able to veto all of the Kiteboarding

June 29th, '04  Our New Lesson location Opens 4th of July Weekend!  South Padre Island, Texas.  South TX is the warmest,
windiest and, by far, the best  place to learn kiteboarding in the continental USA.   Combine this with have 3 nearby airports, 
endless warm shallow flat water, and some of the best instructors available, Padre takes the top pick.
BEST KITES.   3 months ago we received the Nemesis and Yarga model BEST Kites.  With their outrageously low pricing
we had to try them out first hand.  The Verdict is in.  All the riders who try BEST KITES say Wow, and then get this dumbfounded

Feb 13th, '04   The hot topic of the day seems to be the "Best Kiteboarding"  and their new line of kites and boards designed by
Wakeboarding Pro: Shannon Best.  Their Price are very low and they "only" sell direct to the consumer
which cuts the retail shops out of the loop.   Their kites include the Nemesis, a high aspect design;  the Yarga, moderate aspect;
and the low aspect Grunt.  The full details are on their site:  bestkiteboarding.com
For the Local Kiteboarding shops:  They're a bit tweaked to put it mildly.  They see this as having a detrimental effect on there
bottom line revenues.  I'm told that many shop owners have pulled all of the new Kiteboarding Magazine containing the "Best-Kites"
Ads, off the shelves, as a type of boycott to the magazine. ( my understanding anyway).
For the Consumer:  Most see this as an opportunity to buy good kites at a significant savings.
After hearing the news yesterday, I called Jeff Beige of Best kiteboarding, to get the scoop.
Jeff explained that Safety was the primary focus even before quality and price.  Having attended the Wipika Instructor
Certification along with Jeff Beige 3 years ago, I know Jeff is committed to the safety issue and the importance of new riders
taking lessons.   As far as the gear quality and performance, it "looks good" but I really can't comment until I see the gear myself,
and I'm sure I'll get the chance  in the near future.  
As a retailer myself, and as and instructor always wanting the best for my students, I can see both sides of the issue clearly.  
In life, change is guaranteed. Some may not always like the change, buts its inevitable. As for myself and Kitemare.com,
I believe "change is good" ,welcome the addition of Best Kites to the market place, and wish Jeff Beige and his partners
great success with their new company.

June "Friday the 13th"  a lucky day as expected.  Hana crew is releasing a new super-wide light wind machine.  Will report
after testing.  If its as good as their stealth, I'm already stoked.   Last time I went to Daytona, I was the only one out on a small
( 16m) kite!  All the guys were on 20 meter monsters.   Lesson demand is getting huge, the interest in the sport is growing rapidly. 
Unfortunately, there are also a growing number of people showing up at the beach and trying to launch kites with no clue what their
doing and putting innocent spectators at risk.   Kiteboarding, like Hangliding,  requires lessons.

The Wind here in St. Pete has been mostly sub 10 knots except for the 2-4 pm afternoon or 9-10 am, you just missed it, window
of opportunity.  The east coast of Florida is a bit better right now, and Texas seems to ALWAYS be windy.
Boards:  Have been riding the new Hana crew stealth. ( 140cm X 16" wide)  Simply the best board I've been on. :)
There working on some newer super short and super wide models that I hope to test soon.
I still love the boards by litewave designs.  A bit heavy for big jumps, but extremely durable, excellent upwind, and easy to ride.

who actually ride.  Be cautious of news groups.  The people who answer every post ride the least.   You'll soon figure out the pros
only contribute comments sporadically, because they would rather ride! Integrity is a word I take seriously.  This website is 100%
based on "No BS" info, put here to improve your kiteboarding experience.   I don't promote anything just for profit.    If its here,
its for real, that's it period.  

January 8th: 2003  If you've been reading that the new 2003 kites turn fast and wondered if there was really much of a difference...
wonder no more, It true!!!  I just purchased the new 2003 Cabrinha Co2 16m for my school and was blown away by the way it flys! 
In the past, I've always had one 16m for teaching beginners, and a different 16m for me.
Not any more!  The Co2 is one kite for both roles. It does it all.   Super easy re-launching for beginners, and fast turning, big jumps for
the advanced rider. Yeah! : )
New trainer kites are available...  the symphony 3.3  will sell for the same as an Airush 3m, but the new 3.3 is twice the quality.

September 12th
One week until Surf-Expo!  This is an annual event when the Dealers meet with the Manufactures to get the full rundown on all

New Pages:  Site Map - The site is getting so big even the webmaster was losing track of all the pages!   Techniques - With all
of the recent calls and emails, it was time to create page to answer the most common questions related to trouble shooting and solutions. 
These pages are new, so watch for the info to expand rapidly.  A Clinic was just scheduled for Long Island, NY. and its already filled!

July 27th,2002
Beginning The 1st week of August, Lessons will be available in Cocoa Beach!  The west coast is dead, but the east coast is still
enjoying afternoon sea breezes. At this time we're also working out the details on our newest program.  "Kite Flight"  ... The Kiting
is for you, and the airplane Flight is for me.  In other words... If you have a few friends that want to learn and you don't have a local
 instruction...we can bring the lesson program to your local beach!  Right now Nevada and NY are in the works for September.   

June 25th, 2002:
The summer doldrums have arrived. :(   the winds are dropping and the thunderstorms are taking over! 
The locals warned me this would happen.  On the other hand....  the east coast of Florida is having
one epic day after another.  

May 11th, 2002
Summer is approaching as the seabreeezes here in west Florida are becoming more consistent. ... my favorite
time of year!  On the other hand, by July they will die!  One of most consistently windy spots in the US ....
North Carolina / The Outer Banks ....   maybe the best place to learn kiteboarding due to the huge area of
flat, waist-deep water, great wind, and world class instructors like... Dimitri Maramenides, Chris Moore,
Trip Foreman, and _____?___ Instructor extraordinaire!  (later this summer.......  stay tuned ).

April 15th, 2002
Tax Day!  my favorite, an afternoon seabreeze is forecast...yeah!   The newest change is the increasing
demand for 3m trainer kites over the 2m ones.  In the past we only sold a 3m that cost over $300, so
now that the Airush 3m is available for $199 including leash the demand is huge.
Any trainer, 2-3m with do the job, but many people prefer the "pull" provided by the slightly larger kite.  
Lessons:  I originally thought that most of my lessons would be local residents.  I was wrong, 80% are
traveling from out of town just to visit the 3-2-1 Kite School here in St. Pete, Florida.

March 30th, 2002
- Its official Kitemare is now carrying boards by "Litewave Designs"!  Check 'em out on the "Boards" page. 
I don't know if its Spring fever or just the explosive growth of the sport.... but things are getting crazy
around here! Emails, phone calls, trainer kites, lessons, boards, kites, orders, packing, shipping......    Whatever
the reason, KITEBOARDING is growing fast.  In general, I'm psyched, and at the same time... I'm concerned
that a few morons don't ruin it for the rest of us.
Almost Everyday, I get some one who calls and says... "I just need a kite and and board, maybe a few quick
pointers and I take it from there".  These people don't have a clue!    All the shops are not pushing trainer
kites as a way to get rich,  its more like survival!  Learning the basics on a trainer kite cannot "guarantee"
100% safe learning, but it made a HUGE difference!  At this point, I am actually refusing to give lessons if
a person is not willing to log in those hours on a trainer.
The students that come here for a lesson who already have trainer kite and wakeboard experience learn fast....
real fast!

- This past Saturday we held our Kitemare Kite-Blast Intro and Demo on St. Pete Bch.  The event was a huge
success thanks to...  The Undertown Bar, Redbull, Airush, and local riders/ assistants..

March 7 th, 2002
- Mark your calander for the March 9th  FREE "intro to kiteboarding clinic" So far... a light season for wind,
but a strong season for new gear.  The New 2002 Airush kites have hit the water and were worth the wait. 
Both the "lift" and "ATV" models are in-stock and

January 29th, 2002
- The new 2002 gear is here!!   Last season we we teaching lessons with the wipika "free air",
this season we're using the new "Hydro".  For lessons AND.... for my personal free riding sessions...
the hydro is SOOOOOOO  SWEET!!!   balanced, quick turning, we built, and stupid easy re-launching!  
Being a kiteboarding instructor just became a whole lot easier.  :)
-  "2" Women's Intro to Kiteboarding Clinics are now being scheduled for March.  Details coming soon.

December 26th
- The New 2002 gear is on its way and now being added to the website.  New 2002 kites, boards,
accessories, and prices!  Prices are lower for the new year. The manufacturers are the ones to thank.  

December  14th
-This page is getting difficult,  there is soooo much new going on..its hard to list it all! :)
- Relocation complete and our school is up and running  in Tierra Verde.  Currently all efforts are focused on our new  school
and the shop is set-up to support our lesson program.  In other words, you probably wont find the shop open if the winds blowing! 
On the Beach, Teaching lesson, Testing gear, and riding is what Kiteboarding is all about.  On the other hand.... if you need gear...
at 7 am or 11 pm we'll hook you up.   Its not beer that makes your gut big... its basic 9-5 hours in a chair!

November 8th

- Lots of exciting news!  Kitemare just signed a lease for it new home on the Tierra Verde peninsula in St. Petersburg, Florida! 
Our new "3-2-1 Kite school"  is currently scheduled to open on November 16th.  Warm water, winter winds, and killer launch sites.....
I love the place! :)

September 26th

-  Surf Expo 2001 was epic!  The entire Kiteboarding 2002 lineup and hot models everywhere!
It is best described as a kiteboarding magazine come to life!  All the gear manufacturers,
Pro riders,  long legged kite-girls, old friends and new ones.  So much to see...  so little time.
Ya..... you missed it! :)  This site will soon be updated with the newest gear.  For now, here is a little
preview.    Wipika has made my dream come true with its new kite, 
the Hydro.  Its a medium aspect-ratio 4-line kite.   Too me its the perfect balance between performance
and relaunchability.  Materials and designs have been improved noticeably, and the new kite bags are stylin, 
they zip open to hold your kite with the struts inflated.  Chinook will be releasing its own 4-line reel bar. ...
by far the best reel bar I've seen! (ETOA - June 2002)   Hana crew has a new model called "the wave". 
A twin-tip with super pinched in ends for sticking tight bottom turns and charging the lip.  Airush: New
inflatable kites designed by "Jeff Howard"  a true master! Wing tips to maximize the  kites speed and a
top section to maximize upward lift.  Translation....
Big Air!  Litewave-designs showed up with its new "superlace" sandal binding.  Like I said... just 
a preview.   There is WAY to much info to put it all here.  Updating this site is important, but
spending time "on the water" is more important!   : )

Other News:  As the Kiteboarding market grows its important for Kitemare to pull out the "average" and provide
only our favorite kites, boards and Accessories.  If you don't see the gear you're looking for, just ask we'll be
happy to order it for you or refer you to a reputable dealer who carries it.
Last season we mostly sold Gear by Slingshot and Wipika.  And now... after reviewing all the new 2002 gear, 
Kitemare will focus on Airush, Wipika, and Cabrinha for Kites.  Yes, there there are other companies out there,
but considering all the factors... design, performance, construction, price, warrantee, and customer service,
we quickly narrowed down the options.   Bottom line,  its ALL good if your out there on the water, and its all
worthless if your sitting on the Beach.  Get a trainer kite, get a lesson, buy some gear, and .... GET OUT THERE! :)

rundown on what's new for 2002!

- Kitemare will be relocating to the Greater "Tampa/St.Pete" area of Central Florida!
The Tampa area was chosen to better serve the Florida Kiteboarding community with its new central location. 
A warmer year 'round climate with multiple flat-water launch sites make this an excellent area to call home.  
The relocation is scheduled for this November! 
Ok.... you want the real story.  The truth is that the owner of Kitemare.com is a cold weather wimp.    Yeah, ...  its true.  
- Lessons and customer service will remain in the Jacksonville area with TEAM KITEMARE.com
riders, Instructors, and business affiliates. 

- Kitemare will begin selling the "Terraboard" all-terrain boards (Mtn. Boards).  Check out the "boards" page
for more info.

August 1st, 2001

-Just returned from my short trip to Hood River, Oregon ( The Gorge).   Met with Wipika USA
and Slingshot.  Theres alot of Impressive new gear soon to be released,  Bars , Boards, kites...
I can't wait!     Kiting in the Gorge was epic.  20-25 knot winds,  big air, and the friendliest group of people
anywhere I've been.   It was a real surprise to see so many cute young buff ladies ripping it up on the water.  
Some of the locals call the famous "sand bar" ... "the gay bar" In other words,  the sand bar is NOT the best
launch site.   Its great for beginners, but teh real fun is at my 2 new favorite spots....   "rufus" and "rosevelt" 
Definitely going back again next year.
- Just found another excellent light air twin-tip..... the "starboard switch 180".   No need for directionals, 
the switch 180, has plenty of floatation for ripping it up in light winds.  See the "boards" page.
